COVID-19 Updates

In an effort to prevent the rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 while also providing the best care to our patients, Thomas Pediatrics is changing how office visits run. The health and well-being of our patients and families are of utmost importance to us. For now, here are a few things you need to know. We will continue to provide you with updates as they become available.

If your child is sick, please call the office as usual and speak to our staff. We will decide on a case-to-case basis if you need to bring your child in. Please inform the staff if you have traveled out of the country or have come in contact with anyone who has the COVID-19 virus infection.

All well visits and catchup immunizations are being done regularly in the office. It is important that children are up to date on their vaccines and have regular annual checkups so please do not delay these visits. We are scheduling visits in such a way so as to minimize contact between families, so please make sure you arrive on time for your appointment. Please call the office when you arrive and wait in the car till you are instructed to come inside.

We ask that only one parent/guardian accompany the child during the visit. If you have other children, it would be best to leave them with someone at home or have them stay with an adult in the car during the office visit. All adults and children aged 2 years and above must wear a mask/face covering when in the office, even if you are fully vaccinated and boosted. This will help us to protect ourselves, and others in the office.

If you need to see the doctor, but cannot be seen in person, we offer a Telemedicine service where you can speak to Dr. Thomas via video chat. This service will only be available for mild symptoms, so please call the office and we will provide you with the details if deemed clinically appropriate.

With the current information/data made available to us, COVID-19 is thought to cause milder symptoms in healthy children. The best method of protection is vaccination, and we strongly advise that all eligible children 5yrs and above get the vaccine as soon as possible. We are currently providing the Covid vaccine for children 5-11 years of age, please contact the office if you would like to schedule an appointment for your child.
